Finnish rally driver Hannu Mikkola, unofficially finishes first in the Portuguese Rallye Algarve as zero car, almost half an hour earlier than the winner. The first World Championship event in 1981 that the Quattro entered was the Monte Carlo Rally, in which Hannu Mikkola unfortunately did not complete due to an accident, however set many of the fastest times on the stages.
