1985 North America’s notorious Pike’s Peak hill climb is won by Michele Mouton in an Audi Sport Quattro S1. A serious accident involving a competitor and spectators in the Portuguese Rally leads to Audi pulling out of the World Championship. It was the last year the Group B cars dominated the WRC scene. Due to the tragic accident which occurred during the rally, the future of Group B cars came under scrutiny.
