Quattro Wins Boucles De Spa
Snow and ice put the heat on Waldegard as Thiry triumphs in Belgium
The group 4 Audi quattro of former WRC driver Bruno Thiry narrowly
beat 1979 World Rally Champion Bjorn Waldegard's Ford Escort MkII
at February's Legend Boucles de Spa rally in Belgium.
The event drew 30,000 spectators, lured by an entry list packed with
stars from world rallying. Snow and ice late in the one day event favoured
the four-wheel drive quattro and reeled in Waldegard, who had excelled
on clear tarmac earlier in the day.
Swedish 1984 World Rally Champion Stig Blomqvist finished seventh in
yet another Escort MkII.

Rally Support Vehicle Conversions

The images above show the VW van recently acquired by A M Cars. It was
bought as a completely standard van and then converted to be a support
vehicle for motorsport events such as rallying. The van was finished to replicate
the original support van as used by Audi during their successful years of rallying
with the Audi quattro. Conversions like this can be carried out in our workshops
to customers requirements on most types of van.
Please contact us with your requirements.
More vans can be seen in the motorsport car & van page which includes
the VW LT 35 van converted and used by A M Cars Motorsport and now
for sale. (Click here)

The 2010 Rallye Sunseeker takes place on Saturday 27th February.
It is based in Poole and is the opening round for the National Rally

in 2008 for a 20 year anniversary since the car first competed on the
event and in 2009 for the 25 year anniversary since its launch.
This year there will be a gathering of Audi quattro rally cars to
commemorate the 30th year since the launch of the Audi quattro.
AM Cars will be taking both of it's rally cars to the event.
There will be a ceremonial start on Poole Quay on Friday evening

Star Studded Snow & Ice
Just as beautifully and brilliantly as they did last year, the Jura and the
Haut Doubs donned their finest white fleece coat to welcome the 56th
edition of the classic Snow & Ice Rally. Nestled high up in the mountains
at an altitude of 900 metres overlooking the lovely Lake Saint Point,
Malbuisson hosted the technical and administrative verifications for this
exciting winter motor sport event. Some sixty adventure-seeking teams
from all over Europe geared up for this 7th edition focused on precision
timing (regularity as opposed to high-speed racing). They all satisfied the
formalities imposed by the organizing committee and were officially
admitted into the event which kicked off with an evening session of trial runs
round Malbuisson. This thrilling prologue definitely wet the appetites of
these motor sport fans all thirsting for a challenge. And the stage was set
for three fun-filled days of action along the slippery slopes of France’s
coldest region on a route cleverly laid out by Patrick Zaniroli himself!
Adam Marsden with co driver Richard Ingleby completed the 937Km
rally over the four days of the event taking second place on one of the ski
stages and on the final day finishing in 28th position overall.

30 YEARS OF THE AUDI QUATTRO AT CHATSWORTH
The Rally Show at Chatsworth for 2010 will be an exciting event especially for fans
of the Audi quattro.
The featured celebration at the show will be "30 years of the Audi Quattro", the
car that revolutionised rally car design and performance.
The "Quattro" was first launched on to the rallying scene in 1981, it’s first event was
the Monte Carlo Rally with two cars driven by Hannu Mikkola and Michele Mouton.
There is a planned demo run of works Audi quattro's which will include IN-NP 50
belonging to Adam Marsden. Adam has taken part in all three previous events
with IN-NP 50 and with his other rally quattro BPC11Y.
More details of IN-NP 50. (click here)

The 2010 event features a brand new special stage layout, plus better locations for the
service park and the exhibition area. Over 40,000 people attended the first three shows.
This is now the second biggest rally event in the UK (only Rally GB is bigger).
The show incorporates part of the former RAC Rally stage and turns it into a spectator
based event complete with all the thrills of special stage rallying.
Historic and World Rally Cars will take on Chatsworth’s famous set pieces of rallying;
the jump and the water splash.
Wiscombe Park Hill Climb - 5th /6th September 2009
The Five Clubs Meeting
Traditionally the last major championship meeting of the season the 'Five Clubs'
event caters for a wide selection of sporting machinery and championships.
As in recent years the action revolves around regional championships and with the
season coming to a close there is important work to be done by those with
aspirations of success in their chosen series. The Saturday had it's usual scattering
of showers throughout the day causing the track surface to be damp and greasy.
The Sunday being quite the opposite with the sun shining lifting everyone's spirits
and with track conditions greatly improved the times for the climb to the top of the
hill were much faster. The quattro boys Adam, Andy and Tim all had a very successful
weekend with Adam and Andy both achieving their personal best times at Wiscombe
and Tim being just a few hundredths of a second away from achieving a similar result.
Audi quattro In-Car Video Footage
Here is some in car video footage of Andy and Tim's quattro in action at
Gurston Down Hillclimb earlier this year. Andy is driving on his first practice
run of the day. Unfortunately the car developed a few problems later which
terminated the days event for them.
Bristol Two Club Sprint - Monday 31st August 2009
Once again a visit to Colerne Airfield for the sprint meeting on the bank holiday
Monday. The day started with fog over the airfield which delayed the start of the event.
When the fog cleared the practice runs began and the day progressed without any
further problems for the quattro drivers Adam Tim and Andy. The day ended with
the complete opposite of the morning with brilliant sunshine.
Rally Hebrides 2009
The second event of Rally Hebrides was held on Saturday 22 August 2009.
The stage rally consisted of a Ceremonial Town Centre Start, followed by two
special stages over farmland on the edge of Stornoway. The drivers tackled a further
two special stages through the stunning grounds of Lewis Castle.
The action concluded with a ‘tarmac super-special’ around the circuit at Lewis Karting
Circuit. Twenty of the best rally cars in the UK made the trip to Stornoway to help raise
funds for Macmillan Cancer Support. The level of the drivers' commitment was
demonstrated by the fact that they paid their own way in terms of ferry fares,
accommodation, car costs etc. Adam Marsden travelled north from Somerset to
the Isle of Lewis covering around 1500 miles for the round trip to compete in the rally.
Calum Macleod who lives on the Island was Adam's co driver. A wide range of vehicles
took part in the event, ranging from the mighty Group B Audi Quattro and an
ex Colin McRae Mk2 Escort to the outrageous MG Metro 6R4 and the Subaru Impreza
of 2008 Scottish Rally Champion, Jimmy Girvan.
